With the classic plexiglass handle. Cast aluminum diamond shaped hand guard. The steel blade has seen better days.
Well sharpened and a little bit of rust & light pitting. It would look great again. If buffed down with a wire wheel & cleaned off if desired.
The hilt is a complex stack of various pieces of plexiglass and leather / with a hint of red coloration along the inner tang. It looks like the GI who made this knife somehow procured a civilian style hunting knife scabbard, it fits perfectly and matched the condition of the knife. Don't pass it up! Thus is one of the better made varieties of theater knives.
With a heavy duty aluminum cast cross guard and pommel. This could have been carried by us army infantrymen. Or member of the United States marine corps USMC.
Truly a one of a kind trench knife!
