ANTIQUE BOWIE FIGHTING KNIFE DAGGER HORN HILT BRASS GUARD 1850s Calif. Here is a great item! It is an Antique Bowie Knife. Has a wonderful Horn hilt with 4 brass pins.
It has a German silver Escutchion plate. The blade is a steel, single edge spear point blade. Full tang, about 3/16 thick. Blade is 5 5/8 in length.Still has fairly sharp edge. Very stout and well made knife. No markings that I can find. Sheath is very sturdy thick leather. Looks original to knife, but may be a replacement. Fits almost like a glove.
Very nice designs engraved into sheath. Almost looks like a Map to me. No major damage to either knife or sheath. No play in hilt or guard. Has some fine scratches, dings, etc, just from age and use. This knife looks like it was made for business. In my opinion I believe it is from the 1850s and may possibly be a California knife.
A real Manly Fighting Knife! For it is by Grace you have been saved, through faith.
And this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God. Not by works, so that no one can boast.
