C1840 W&S BUTCHER Sheffield Fighting Bowie Knife Dagger with Original Sheath

  

Recently found at an Estate Sale - W&S Butcher Sheffield Fighting Bowie Knife - note found with knife states Dagger given to John Higman by a Spaniard in South America where he had gone to build the first Ice Manufacturing Plant in S. About 1875 (your great great grandfather)" - the knife is approximately 10 3/4 inches overall - 6 3/4 inch single edged blade - marked "manufactured by W&S Butcher Sheffield on the left side of the blade - the hilt is silver construction with 2 smooth panels of ivory secured with 7 pins and fitted with a blank inscription panel on the left side - I have not tampered with or cleaned the blade - the hilt has minor scuffing and 2 very minor dents - the grip has a light stress line on the right panel with a minor chip on the ivory (see photo) - the sheath is brown leather with a smooth silver throat and a ribbed tip - there is a minor dent/abrasion near the tip of the throat - the frog studs are present and original - please view photos.
