An unusual WW2 era American fighting knife made from the tip of the older M1909 bayonet - a so-called "theater knife" made from whatever materials were available. Very cool and certainly one-of-a kind; this one seems to be designed as a boot knife. The knife comes with the WW2 era NORD composition scabbard with the belt hanger removed. This fighter is about 7-7/8 / 20 cm overall; the blade is about 4 / 10.2 cm.
The edge is razor-sharp; no nicks or dings on the blade but it's a bit pitted. The handle is made od red fiber scales; hand-cut ad riveted together with copper pins.All parts are solid with no play. Navy-gray NORD composition scabbard is in great shape; no cracks or chips; belt webbing has been removed. The front of the steel throat is stamped U.
