According to the catalog: this blade was made of Forged ¼ inch Columbia Tool Steel AISA TypeW-1. The double combat hilt is made of stainless steel as is the butt cap. The handle is made of Black Delrin and has 3 white decorative spacers at each end. The knife weighs about 9.5 ounces. The knife tang is a full thickness (1/4) hidden Tang of a width between 5/8 and 7/8 inches.
The custom-made black vegetable tanned saddle leather sheath was hand stitched by Mr. Other dimensions: Sheath length is about 11.5 inches and about 2 inches wide. The knife blade is about 1.17 inches wide at the widest point. The combat hilt is about 2 ¾ inches wide. The catalog itself is a piece of history and provides some interesting reading. It is rare to receive the Knife Maker's catalog with a 50+ year old custom knife.
I also have a newspaper clipping of the memorial service for Mr. Prouty after his passing - that is included with the catalog. Remember - it's all about the story! This knife is very interesting and a usable tool for special purpose individuals.
It has history, and it could be one of a kind! It is very rare at the least case. Thank you for your interest!
