Balled cross guard is German silver' the collar and the guard have quite a bit of a paly. Original sheath did not survive. Brittain & Co, Sheffield 1880s "swan" logo gentlemen's dagger; rare type. Rare Sheffield-made circa 1880s gentlemen's fighting dagger with dual-edge blade and celluloid handle with fancy silver collar and balled handguard.
This dagger style was quite popular in Europe and in the States in the 1800th, although this wide, fullered blade style is rare and seldom comes up for sale. The dagger is about 8-3/4?/ 22.2 cm overall; the blade is about 5-1/8? The handle is made from off-white celluloid (this man-made material was the latest fashion rage in the late 1800s); the collar looks sterling silver. Don't miss your chance to add this rare dagger to your collection! This knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, 100% original condition; these are the actual photos.
